I want to share something new I’m doing. You may like it. Or not?
It all started when I was in Scotland.
It was the day of the Summer Solstice, June 21st 2023. Arriving at the Ring of Brodgar in the Orkney Islands was amazing enough, but being there for this auspicious date on the timeline was both magical and confusing. I knew I was there for a bigger purpose. I just didn’t know what that was at the time.
The standing stones of the Ring of Brodgar are massive, majestic and many. They are thought to be between 4400 and 4600 years old, and older than Stonehenge. It is believed to be the 3rd largest henge (circular enclosure) in Britain. I’d been guided to go here, so I trusted my intuition and made the long trip north.
Orkney is not close to any of the main airports in Scotland. The landmass of the Orkney islands sits in the North Sea, past the most northern edge of the Scottish mainland. It had taken me over 3 hours on a bus from Inverness (the capital of the Highlands) to the ferry dock, and then a 90 minute boat ride to the harbour where my hotel was. I had then had to board another local bus for a short 20 minute ride before walking another 30 minutes to get to the stone circle. I was certainly on an adventure.
It was a blustery day on the Solstice, pretty normal weather for Orkney as there are very few, if any, trees on these islands. The wind blows all the time, and the sky feels like it’s miles high above you. The clouds are enormous and move very fast, often changing the weather conditions from bright warm sun to a dark cloudy mood, in a matter of seconds. Today the sun was shining and I felt like I was literally on top of the world. Interestingly, the distance from Orkney to the Arctic Circle is short so summer daylight stays well into the night hours.
As I approached the stones I felt their power immediately. I was in awe. There was an “other world” energy in the air which I can’t quite explain. It had been decided that this World UNESCO Heritage site would be better viewed from a distance so I was unable to touch the actual monoliths in the circle. This was believed to preserve the area from human damage. Locals shared with me later that they went there all the time, and stood among the stones touching them for their own benefit, after the “officials” had left for the day.
I started walking around the perimeter of the stones with my dousing rods, feeling into the space. Out of nowhere it seemed, this little old couple appeared in front of me, doing the very same thing. The lady was holding her dousing rods in front of her, chattering away to her husband. When she saw me she came back towards me, telling me “you see my dear, this is what you do. You walk around and feel for the shift in the rods. They read the energy you see, and as you walk, the rods clear any blocks or dark energy. You see my dear, we are laying the light into this place, we are changing the vibrational frequency here, and we are working in multi dimensions. You know that, right?”
I’m here to tell you, at that point, I had no idea that this was the mission, but she was very clear in her instructions, so I assumed the position and began. The first time around the stones must have taken me about an hour as I had to keep stopping for the rods to do their magical clearing. It was amazing. I was speaking light language all the way, and the rods would move completely on their own as I approached each stone. It was as though what she’d told me was true. Each stopping point cleared the energy. I watched my rods, one or both, swinging a full 360 degrees spinning uncontrollably, until they came to a full stop. Then I would know it was time to continue. As I approached an opening to the stone circle around half way, at the top of end of the circle, I was immediately given a vision of a historical processional of people from earlier times, in prehistoric dress, moving slowly and methodically into the circle. It seemed to be a type of worship event, perhaps like the summer solstice, where they were coming together to honour the stones, the earth, the sun and the cosmos.
There was a lot of spinning and energy at this opening and I stood there for a while allowing the unseen forces to do their work.
Continuing back to the beginning I made my way around the rest of the circle. Many visitors were arriving at the circle with different tour guides and some would stop and watch me but, as much as I was aware of them being in the space, I was singularly focused on the job at hand. There was work to do and I was there to do it.
Finally I arrived back at the end of the circle and looked up at the sky. The sun was still shining and the clouds were still moving. I asked out loud if I was done, and was given a resounding “no, keep going”, so off I went again. By this time the old couple had disappeared, and I never saw them again.
On my second trip round the stones I could feel that the clearing part had been completed. There were only a few moments when the rods spun uncontrollably and I felt much calmer as I approached each stone. I knew at that point that I was “walking light”. The only way to explain this is that I felt like I was a channel for God’s love and light to flow through me into this sacred land. I felt like I was lighting up the land like a torch lights a stream of dynamite. Would there be an explosion when I was done? I hoped not.
About a third of the way through, the light language stopped being spoken, and I started to sing. It wasn’t intense, just as if I’d been made for this moment. The language was flowing through me and I couldn’t have stopped it if I tried. It was then that I realized that I’d done this before, and I remembered being in my early teens and walking for hours at a time along the shoreline in my home town alone, just me and my songs. It was the exact same energy and the same kind of singing. I had returned home to my roots and my roots had come up to greet me. This new channeling singing continued for the entire walk around the circle and at the end I knew I was complete.
As the time approached for the actual summer solstice, around 3:20 pm I found a spot to sit and just watch the sky. It was moving fast and the wind was continuing to blow strongly. By this time there were only a few others still at the stones and I noticed a young woman off to my left. We exchanged pleasantries and acknowledged this momentous date and our location. Just after 3:15 pm I closed my eyes to rest for a bit. I was pretty tired and wasn’t sure how much longer I would stay. In the next few moments, everything changed. The sun was shining down on both of us and it was as if the heavens began to move around us. The wind picked up and the noise was almost deafening. The clouds began to move faster and faster across the sky and the sun was radiating down on us. I felt like time stopped still. I took a short video of the sun and the wind because I knew this was one of those magical moments I wouldn’t want to forget. Within 5- 7 minutes the atmosphere changed again, and the thunder of the wind and clouds abated. The sun continued to shine, but less fiercely, and everything went back to as it was before.
I wasn’t sure I’d really experienced what I’d seen and felt, so I looked over at the other woman. “Did that just happen?” I asked her. “Sure did”, she said, and smiled back at me, confirming what I already knew. We had been in a very powerful vortex and had witnessed something really unusual.
When I’m singing it feels like a prayer for me, and I cannot explain how it is generated. It is gentle and strangely meaningful for those hearing it. Most of the time I know it’s either a blessing or an initiation into more light and love. I believe this gift was re-initiated for me at the Ring of Brodgar, and it continues to this day. As I continued to travel to various sacred sites in Scotland this energy was amplified and integrated into both my being, and the land I was walking on. It was magic in the making.
I can’t explain how this works, but it feels so good when I do it. Have a listen to the recording up above this post.
